The Institute For Interdisciplinary Research in Science and Education
22nd Rencontres du Vietnam
5th Hardware Camp on Fast Radiation Detection and Imaging
Date: Mar. 08 - 14, 2026
Location: ICISE center, Quy Nhon Nam, Gia Lai, Vietnam
See the unseen: discover how scintillators, photodetectors, and fast electronics work together to capture the faintest flashes of light and radiation. Hands-on sessions with PMT, SiPM, and Timepix systems reveal how timing, amplification, and imaging come together in modern radiation detection and imaging technology.
There is no registration fee. Tentatively we support accommodation and meals for all students, lecturers and mentors during the camp.
This is the 5th hardware camp in the series. The previous hardware camps can be found at: 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022

Hardwares to explore
What do we have for the camp: Photomultiplier (PMT), Silicon-based photomultiplier (siPM; multiple types; power supply and circuit to work with); Timepix and educational toolkits; light source (LED; LED driver; and cosmic rays); plastic scintillator (various sizes); wavelength shifting fiber; NIM electronic module (amplifier, discriminator, coincidence, scaler, ...) to manipulate the analog signals; oscilloscope; fast analog-to-digital converter (ADC); optical components (fiber splitter, diffuser..) and other additional components. Following are few snapshots.
-
NIM modules, oscilloscope, DRS4 (stand-alone ADC), DC power supply, PC

Program
Students are expected to check in the hotel on Mar. 8 (Sun.), 2026. The hardware camp is expected to finish by 12:00pm (GMT+7) on Mar. 14th (Sat.), 2026
The primary goal is to provide students with hands-on experience with basic particle and nuclear physics hardware as well as data analysis software. This will also serve as a forum for those with an interest in this type of hardware and techniques.
Detailed program is under-construction https://ifirse.icise.vn/nugroup/public/wiki/doku.php?id=hwcamp_timetable2026
