FPGA / Michael Holik

bout FPGA topics. I have experience in development of front-end electronics dedicated for pixel detectors and SiPM detectors (involving hardware and firmware part of the design). Regarding teaching, I send you a link (see it bellow) to the subject at our faculty of electrical engineering where we teach students to work with FPGAs (generally, it is one semester long course, students become familiar with FPGA technology, its benefits and typical applications. In connection to theoretical part there are also practical exercises where they learn VHDL programming language, simulation of basic designs and finally implementation in FPGA development boards).

Considering the Hardware camp, due to the limited amount of time, I think that some reduced variant of FPGA introductory course could be involved (e.g. one or two lectures about FPGAs, practical exercises comprising work with pre-compiled designs part where students will try to use development tools by themself).

Timepix

Regarding Timepix pixel detector, I can imagine that Timepix based demonstrations as well as hands-on exercises can be easily involved into the next Hardware camp. We have developed melodics and guidelines for teaching with pixel detectors (with task complexity ranging from high school students to university students). I am able to give a lecture about Timepix pixel detectors and their applications, in connection to that, hands-on exercises can follow (using educational kits as we already managed it for ICISE school for medical physics or other similar instrumentation schools where I participated).
