Gas and Dust Properties in Protoplanetary Disks at mm/sub-mm wavelengths (Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong – DAP/VNSC & SAGI/IFIRSE, Vietnam)

November 28, 2024 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Speaker: Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong (DAP/VNSC & SAGI/IFIRSE, Vietnam)

Host: Dr. Thiem Hoang (KASI & UST, South Korea)

Time: 2:30 PM (Vietnam time, UTC+7)

Abstract: Protoplanetary disks are the birthplaces of planets, consisting of gas and dust that evolve through complex physical and chemical processes. Understanding the properties of gas and dust within these disks is essential for unraveling the initial conditions of planet formation. Millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths provide a powerful window into the gas and dust properties of protoplanetary disks, offering crucial insights into the early stages of planet formation.
In this talk, I will present recent studies characterizing the physical and chemical properties of a couple of prototype protoplanetary disks using observations from ALMA and NOEMA. I will discuss the gas and dust morphology, grain growth, gas kinematics, and chemical composition in environments that favor the formation of planets.
