Opening Ceremony and MoU signing

Opening ceremony of Neutrino Group at the Institute For  Interdisciplinary Research in Science and Education (IFIRSE) and MoU signing among four Japanese professors and Rencontres Du Vietnam happen on July 17th 2017 at the   ICISE center, Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh.

ICISE center is hosting annually number of the international conferences in high energy physics (HEP) in general and especially in neutrino physics. We figure out that this can be great place to build an experimental HEP group in Vietnam and collaborate with the international experiments in the world. This is good chance to have Vietnamese physicists more visible to the world, and to have direct and significant contribution for the new discovery in the HEP field. Neutrino Group at IFIRSE is built for those purposes. At beginning, the research group will focus on neutrino physics which is one of the hottest topics in the modern physics. Massiveness of neutrino, which is direct consequence of the well-estimated neutrino oscillation phenomenon, is beyond the description of the Standard Model. And physicists are expecting more from neutrino physics to shed the light into the new physics. Thus, neutrino is now attracting a lot of attention from the physicist community and neutrino search activities are now on fire. Physics Nobel prize in 2015 and breakthrough prize in 2016 dedicated for the contribution of neutrino search  are the valuable words for the vital role of neutrino in the modern physics.
The Vietnam Neutrino Group starts with support from the Japanese professors, collaborate with the international neutrino experiments placed in Japan. For the short-term, 3-5 years, the group will focus on the data-Monte Carlo simulation analysis and studying the Multi-pixel Photon Counter with its applications to neutrino experiments. For the longer term, the group will expand by increasing the number of members and build the laboratory placed at the ICISE center. The goal for 5-10 years is to have an independent group, including Vietnamese and foreign physicists, join into the big experiment in the world, such as Hyper-K.

The Neutrino Group at IFIRSE is led by Prof. Tsuyoshi Nakaya from Kyoto University, JP. He is currently the spokesperson of T2K experiment and the chair of Hyper-K steering committee. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Van, sub-leader of group, is employed by the IFIRSE institute as the main factor to gather students and physicists for the group. For completeness, group includes
1.    Prof. Tsuyoshi Nakaya, Leader, Kyoto Univ., JP
2.    Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hồng Vân, sub-leader, IFIRSE, VN
3.    Prof. Makoto Miura, affiliated member,  ICRR, Univ. of Tokyo, JP
4.    Prof. Yuichi Oyama, affiliated member, IPNS, KEK, JP
5.     Dr. Cao Văn Sơn, affiliated member, IPNS, KEK, JP
6.     Prof. Atsumu Suzuki, affiliated member, Kobe Univ., JP.
Vietnam School on Neutrino is held at ICISE center from July 10 to July 21, organized by the Neutrino Group at IFIRSE with support from the Rencontres Du Vietnam, aims to introduce neutrino physics to students and young Vietnamese physicists. We hope that we will enroll two Vietnamese students to join our group since the fall 2017. Students in our group will directly work with the international experiments placed at Japan with the supervision of the Japanese professors. Besides, to support and advice our activities, an international advisory committee have formed, consists of Prof. Jacques Dumarchez (Uni. of Paris, France), Prof. Karol Lang (The Univ. of Texas at Austin, USA), Prof. Boris Kayser (Fermilab, USA), Prof. Takashi Kobayashi (Deputy director of IPNS, KEK), Prof. Masayuki Nakahata (Director of Kamioka observatory, ICRR, Tokyo Univ.)
